About the Area - Lauderdale County
If you’re looking to relocate to Lauderdale County, you have come to the right place. A number of years ago I also made the move and will be glad to help you make the transition as well. The County is made up of 4 small Towns/Cities: Ripley, Halls, Gates and Henning as well as the unincorporated areas in the County. Each area offers unique advantages and amenities.
Many things are “Growing On” in the proclaimed Tomato Capital. If you take a drive around the Court Square in Ripley, you will notice a newly renovated downtown, including storefronts as well as roads, sidewalks, lighting and everything else that goes with it. Just down from the square there is a 50 acre City Park complete with walking track, tennis courts, ball fields and a swimming pool complex with 3 waterslides. The University of Tennessee at Martin has recently opened a satellite campus in Ripley and the city has plans to open a new fitness center on the same site.
If you’re a fan of the outdoors you will feel right at home. Lauderdale County is the home of two National Wildlife Refuges, a State Park, and a State Wildlife Management Area, which is filled with hunting, fishing and hiking opportunities. Probably the most notable area of outdoor life is the Mississippi River which the county borders. Cycling enthusiasts will also find 50+ miles of the Mississippi River Trail in Lauderdale County.
Every year the community hosts the Lauderdale County Tomato Festival in July and the Lauderdale County Fair is held every Fall in Halls. Along with the redevelopment of Ripley’s Historic Downtown several activities are planned year round. If you’re looking for a community that’s building towards the future, come see what’s “Growing on”!
